A duplex is is built as a single home but consisting of two separate units. You can live on those units but you can also rent out the other uni for extra income.
This duplex is well-designed. It stands a a single house but there is a wall that separates the two units. The floor plan may look exactly the same but there may be some slight changes. It is a not a requirement though that the two units should be identical in appearance and layout as long as they are in just one building and sharing a common wall structure.
Living in a duplex can keep the family ties closer. You and your family can live in one unit while your elderly parents or a sibling’s family may live right next to you.
For some, they live on the other unit and open the other unit for transients. It can also be rented out for extra income.
